Death relieved her agonies yesterday afternoon. She was a daughter of Thomas and Cordelia LAMPLEY and was born in the Webb's Hill community. Early in life she wed C.E. MOORE and three years ago was wedded to LANCE. She leaves her children: Robert MOORE, at home, Paul MOORE, Chalon MOORE, and Mrs. Dorothy MATHIS of Chicago, Mrs. Connie JENKINS and Mrs. Hazel WHITTINGTON, of Benton, and Mrs. Lillie WAYMAN, of Whittington. She also leaves one brother, Lawrence HATCHETT, Benton; two sisters, Mrs. Cora CLARK and Mrs. Iva SULLIVAN, also of Benton. She was also a half-sister to Fred SHERMAN and Vallie HATCHETT (others listed but too faint to read). Her step-mother, Mrs. Mary HATCHETT also survives with two stepsons and one step-daughter. Lance - FCI If you check the 1840 Census of Franklin County, IL, the only LANCE with a daughter age 10-15 is Jonas LANCE. In the 1850 census Jonas is age 54, old enough to be he father of 24 year old Margaret LANCE TAYLOR. There is another 10-15 year old female with Henry LANCE in 1840, but it appears that this female is Henry's wife. If you compare Henry's entry in the 1850 and 1860 census return, this is Louisa J age 26 in 1850 and age 36 in 1860. There is a James LANCE enumerated in the 1830 census, he has 3 daughters ages 5-10 and another daughter age 0-5. James was not enumerated in the 1840 FCI census, is back in the 1850 census but only 40 years of age. In 1860, this James is listed as age 55 years. In 1850 he has a 22 year old daughter, Salley...could he also have a 24 year old daughter ? Catherine Creek Sandusky (John Miller January 4, 1801) and Nancy Creek (Lazarus Webb July 4, 1797) were both married in Warren County, Kentucky. In the 1820 census for Franklin County, IL, I find Lazarus Webb, Killion Sandusky and John Miller living side by each. I strongly believe this John Miller with 11 persons living in his household, is the husband of Catherine Creek Sandusky. I believe the two Millers living nearby are connected to John Miller, William and Charles. In the 1810 census for Warren County, KY, I find a George Lance listed. I have supposed this George to be the father of James Lance (and Jonas, Jacob, Mary, John M. & perhaps Albert.) It appears something happened to this George Lance. I find that the Lances and Creeks moved to southwest Indiana near the same time! I find that James Lance and Mahala Miller marry early in Lance history in Franklin County (they were married by JP William Hall James Lance and Mahala Miller, both of age, married 14 January 1827 by Wm Hall, JP (Book Old A, p. 3, l. 18) in Fayette County, IL. Why Fayette? Maybe because their marriage was opposed by the parents of Mahala? I find that Nancy and Catherine Creek moved to Franklin County, IL, together. I have supposed that James Lance, b. 1810 may have moved there with them from Warren County, KY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He would have been only 10 years old in 1820. In 1827 He would have been 17. Mahala would have been 17 or 18 (b. 1809 in Warren County, KY) There are no Lances in the 1820 FCIL census! They were together sometime before-I conclude in Warren County since the Creeks, Webbs and a George Lance were there together. I postulate that when Jonas Lance and other siblings left Warren County for southern Indiana they left with Killion Creek! I suppose that when Lazarus Webb and John Miller moved their families to Webbs Prairie that James Lance was their too! Question? did George Lance (perhaps Lentz or Lantz originially) travel to KY with the Creeks (Kreig or Kreeg or Krick German) and Millers (Mueller-German) from VA, maybe even Pittsylvania County where Harmon Cooke brought them to from Pennsylvania!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (in "A History of Pittsylvania County, Virginia" the author states of Harmon Cooke that he went to PA and brought a band of German immigrants to Pittsylvania County. We know Killion Creek & family were here in Pittsylvania county. They lived on the upper waters of Tomahawk Creek, which is now in Henry County, VA, Henry was formed form Pittsylvania County.
