JOHN CURTIS

Immigrant on the "Lion" 1632

John Curtis, son of William and Agnes ( ) Curtis, baptized 15 September 1577 Nazing, Essex Co., England, died 1639 Wethersfield, Ct., married 19 April 1610 at Nazing, Eng. to Elizabeth Hutchins, born at Nazing, died June 1658 at Stratford, Ct. Her will was proven 4 November 1658, saying "grandchildren John and Jonathan Curtiss, sons of John and William; to grandchildren John, Israel, Jonathan, and Sarah, children of said John and William, my house and lot when they come to age of 20; grandchild Mary Curtiss daughter of Thomas Curtiss; residue to sons John and William; my Bible to grandchild John (son of John), and a Bible for Jonathan Curtiss (son of my son William). John was at Roxbury 1638, and Wethersfield by 1639 and died soon. The widow Elizabeth moved from Roxbury to Stratford with her sons John and William in 1650, her son Thomas had evidently died leaving a daughter Mary.

Thomas b. Nazing, bp 1619/20, res. of Wethersfield, Ct., had dau Mary
