FRANCIS BROWN

Francis Brown, of Rawcliffe, Yorkshire County, England, born in England about 1610, and married about 1636 in England to Mary. Francis died 1668, his will dated 13 April of 1668, New Haven, Ct. His wife Mary died 7 December 1693 at New Haven, Ct. She had married 2nd, William Payne. Francis was of the company that spent the winter of 1637/8 in a hut which they had erected on the east corner of what is now College and George Streets. He was one of the subscribers to the Colony Compact, or Constitution, in 1639.
