In the first line you copy & paste, or type in the "keywords" given to bring up the record you want to search. Click "Submit Search", then click "Display Results", then click "Display All Hits". This brings the hits up 25 at a time. If you see something of interest click on the image or "access file" to bring up a larger image.

Applications for Enrollment in the Five Civilized Tribes, 1898 - 1914.
10,874 items have been digitized from this series. The digital copies are attached to 64,177 item descriptions, i.e., the same image may be attached to multiple item descriptions. This series contains the original applications for tribal enrollments under the act of June 28, 1898, as well as supporting documents such as birth and death affidavits, marriage licenses, transcripts of testimony taken by the Commission, correspondence relating to the status of the application, and decisions and orders of the Commission.
Commonly called the Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes, the Dawes Commission was appointed by President Grover Cleveland in 1893 to negotiate with the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw and Seminole tribes. In return for abolishing their tribal governments and recognizing state and federal laws, tribe members were allotted a share of common property. These records are held by NARA's Southwest Region (Fort Worth, TX).

Indexes and Final Rolls of the Five Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory, 1898-1914 One multi-page document concerning the Final Rolls of the Citizens and Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory has been digitized. The document lists the names of the individuals who were allowed on the tribal rolls by the Dawes Commission. The rolls are arranged by tribe and thereunder by category (i.e. Cherokee by Blood, Cherokee Minor, Cherokee Freedmen, etc.). The final rolls can be searched to discover the enrollee's name, sex, blood degree, and census card number. The census card may provide additional genealogical information. These records are held by NARA's Textual Archives Services Division Old Military and Civilian Records Unit (Washington, DC).

Index to the Final Rolls of Citizens and Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory, March 4, 1907
One multi-page document has been digitized. This is the index to the names of individuals entitled to enrollment on the rolls of the various tribes comprising the Five Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory (Oklahoma). The index entries are arranged by tribe and thereunder by enrollment category (Cherokee By Blood, Cherokee Minor, Cherokee Freedmen, etc.). The entries for each enrollment category are arranged alphabetically by surname. (It should be noted that surname entries are not always in strict alphabetical order). Each index entry gives an enrollee's name and final roll number. These records are held by NARA's Textual Archives Services Division Old Military and Civilian Records Unit (Washington, DC).

Selected Documents from the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), 1793-1989 12 representative textual documents and photographs from four series in this record group have been digitized. The digitized items date from ca. 1807 to 1918, and are among the records of the following BIA units: Carlisle Indian School; Land Division; and Education Division.
