Thomas Gettings was born in 1797 in Virginia, and died after 1860 in Illinois. He is buried in the Isaac's cemetery in Franklin County Illinois. He married Priscilla Anderson about 1823 in Tennessee.
Thomas is listed on the Roll of Honor as as being buried in Issacs Cem. He was in the War of 1812 in Virginia. The Gettings family was from Jackson Co. TN and moved to Franklin Co. about 1855.

Married 8 Aug 1858 Franklin Co IL, America Cockrill, dau of James and Elizabeth (Venable) Cockrill. James lived in Franklin Co IL in the 1860's. He served in the Civil War from Williamson Co IL between 20 Sept 1861 & 27 Apr 1863 in Co "E" of the 29th Regt. I didn't find his name on the soldier list for Franklin Co. The family story is that he and his wife, America Cockrill were killed by lightning about 1867. It appears to be true as on a later census their 3 children are found living with relatives in Franklin Co. Their dau. Ellenora married Alonzo Croslin. She's the Ella Croslin buried at East Fork.
