John B. Moore, sheriff of Franklin County, Ill., was born in Posey County, Ind., July 13, 1850, the son of Emsley and Jane (Barton) Moore, natives of the same county-Posey. The father removed to this county in 1858, and located on a farm on Crawford's Prairie, Frankfort Township, where he has since resided. John B. was reared and educated in this county, following a farmer's life exclusively until 1881, when he accepted a position as deputy sheriff, which he filled in a faithful and able manner. He has always been a Democrat in politics, and as such elected to the office he now holds. In 1869 he married Mary E. Finney, of this county. She died in 1880 leaving three sons, all living. In 1881 he married Jemima A. Clayton, of this county. They have one son and one daughter. Mr. Moore is a Master Mason, a member of the I. 0. 0. F., and a popular official.
