MRS. BEALE

Grandma Beale. Her given name is not known. I call her Grandma Beale. She was a heroine in the Revolutionary War. The account is given in Logan's "UPPER COUNTRY OF SOUTH CAROLINA" of how Bloody Bill Cunningham, the Tory, robbed Mrs. Beale in her home and not believing that she had given him everything of value he struck her across her arm with her sword. Upon hearing of this her son Captain Beale chased down the Tory, and the Tory shot the Captains horse out from under him. The Captain turned in a bill at the close of the war for the loss of a horse.
